How to Properly Install an Aluminum Alloy Casement Window

2025-12-10

Construction Preparation

1. Material Preparation

(1) The specifications and models of the Aluminum Alloy Casement Window must comply with design requirements. All hardware accessories must be complete and accompanied by the product’s factory certificate and on-site reinspection report.

(2) Sealants, weather-resistant adhesives, foam agents, and other fastening materials used for windows must meet the required specifications and relevant quality standards.

2. Construction Tools

Welding machine, aluminum cutting machine, drilling machine, scriber, nail gun, hammer, wrench, saw, screwdriver, glue gun, steel ruler, etc.

3. Working Conditions

(1) The structural quality for installing the Aluminum Alloy Casement Window must meet the acceptance requirements for qualified products, and handover procedures between work teams must be completed.

(2) Mark the window center line and the indoor +50 cm elevation line as shown in the drawings. Verify whether the window opening's dimensions and elevation meet design specifications; if discrepancies exist, rectify in advance.

(3) Check whether the connection plates on both sides of the Aluminum Alloy Casement Window align with the pre-reserved concrete blocks in the wall. If not, adjustments must be made beforehand.

Construction Methods

1. Measurement and Layout

(1) Carefully review the structural drawings provided by the owner and check the structural deviation records provided by the construction team.

(2) Measure the total elevation deviation of the structure. Using the original vertical axis, transmit the elevation line floor by floor through vertical transfer holes and benchmark points using a vertical instrument, plumb bob, level, and theodolite to determine the overall deviation.

(3) Once confirmed, distribute the total deviation evenly across all floors and reestablish each floor's elevation reference line.

(4) Recheck the cross-reference lines marked by the construction team and remark the final cross lines for each floor.

(5) Based on these reference lines, mark all structural axes from bottom to top according to design drawings, including both north–south and east–west axes.

(6) Measure the distance between each façade and the final outer reference axis to determine vertical deviations.

(7) Propose adjustment suggestions to the construction team according to actual structural deviations and finalize the exact distance between the Aluminum Alloy Casement Window outer edge and the building’s outer structural axis.

2. Window Preparation

(1) Before installing the Aluminum Alloy Casement Window, inspect the quantity, model, specifications, opening direction, and appearance based on design drawings and technical instructions. Check whether all hardware, sealing strips, and fasteners are complete. Any unqualified parts must be replaced immediately.

(2) Move each type of window to its corresponding opening and place upright. If protective film is damaged, repair it immediately. Mark the center line on the upper and lower edges of the window frame. If the glass has been installed, remove it before installation.

3. Sash Installation

(1) External windows are installed using steel fixing plates. First, place the window frame; final fixation into the opening is done during wall plastering.

(2) Fixing points should be positioned 150–200 mm from each corner of the window frame, and spacing between fixing plates should be within 500 mm (adjust based on actual conditions).

4. Fixing the Window Frame

(1) After placing the Aluminum Alloy Casement Window frame into the opening, secure it temporarily using thin wooden wedges at the four corners and sides. Then adjust its verticality, horizontality, and squareness according to design requirements.

(2) Once adjusted, block the gaps on the outer side with wood strips and fill the gaps from the inner side using polyurethane foam.

(3) After the foam cures, remove the wooden strips and clean excess foam. Seal the exterior gap using waterproof cement mortar. Once sealing is complete, wall plastering and insulation can begin.

5. Install and Adjust the Window Sash

Place the sash into the fixed Aluminum Alloy Casement Window frame and adjust the hardware so that the sash edges remain parallel to the frame edges. Ensure smooth opening and closing without sticking, and the operating force must remain below 50 kN.
